carboxypeptidase D(CPD) Homo sapiens The metallocarboxypeptidase family of enzymes is divided into 2 subfamilies based on sequence similarities. The pancreatic carboxypeptidase-like and the regulatory B-type carboxypeptidase subfamilies. Carboxypeptidase D has been identified as a regulatory B-type carboxypeptidase. CPD is a homolog of duck gp180, a hepatitis B virus-binding protein. Transcript variants utilizing alternative polyadenylation signals exist for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008],

Function:
Catalytic activity:Releases C-terminal Arg and Lys from polypeptides.,cofactor:Binds 2 zinc ions per subunit.,Domain:There are 3 carboxypeptidase-like domains. Only the first two domains seem to have kept a catalytic activity.,similarity:Belongs to the peptidase M14 family.,tissue specificity:Highly expressed in placenta, pancreas and hepatoma cells. Lower levels found in skeletal muscle, heart and colon carcinoma and melanoma cell lines.,
