Background:
function:Complexes with metalloproteinases (such as collagenases) and irreversibly inactivates them. Also mediates erythropoiesis in vitro; but , unlike IL-3 , it is species-specific , stimulating the growth and differentiation of only human and murine erythroid progenitors.
